good times and irritation

not last weekend but the one before that (yes, that's how far behind i am), we drove over to horsetooth reservoir to spend the afternoon. perfect weather, beautiful sun,and the whole beach all to ourselves. marley got some much needed exercise and mama got some much needed fresh air.

ahhhh, joy.

and while i'm at it, i'd also like to include a little something for Yahoo.

dear Yahoo,

i just wanted to tell you how
annoyed i am with your website and customer service. first of all, somebody hacked into my email and is sending viagra ads to my friends and family. clearly, this is not something i would do - i try to pretend i don't even know what that is! and i'm sure my friends and family would really appreciate it if i closed my account so they wouldn't get those lovely emails from me anymore. so after searching every nook and cranny of your website i finally found out how to close my account. however, i also realized that i use that email to log in to several different programs. your fantasy sports program included. and after looking for 2 hours (no exaggeration) i could not find a way to change my log in so that i could still use this program, as i thoroughly enjoy it, but be able to log in with a different username. so i did the smart thing and emailed your customer service department to ask them how. i got a very quick response, however it was automated and offered several links on how to fix various common problems, none of which pertained to my issue. did you even read my email? i'm not a total idiot - i had already looked through all of those links and couldn't find the answer to my question - that is why i emailed you! at the end of this ever-so-personal automated email you promised that if i wrote you back and told you that none of those links worked, that you would get back to me with the correct solution within 24 hours. well that was 68 hours ago friends and i still have not heard from you. can you understand my frustration? i want to play your stupid online sport games but i cannot keep letting my friends and family get viagra ads from "me". entirely unacceptable! i am begging you to please write me back and tell me you have a solution to my problem. surely i am not the first person who's wanted to change their log in id in your fantasy football program. i mean, come on... as a faithful subscriber of yahoo for over 10 years i have to say that i am disappointed. i expected better than this from you Yahoo (not to be mistaken with yahoos!). please reply to me soon. and while you're at it, please do me the favor of exceeding my expectations in some form or another. maybe you could send an email to everyone in my contact list who has gotten another crap email while i've been waiting for you to respond. but i'll leave it up to you to decide how.

at this point, regretfully and very impatiently yours,
lindsay

maiden voyage

as i sit here listening to mel torme bust out lullaby of birdland and occasionally flip back to the giants/colts game to check the score on this, sunday sept 19th, i realize it has been 10 days since i said i would post another anecdote from our silly lives the next day. i sigh. clearly i'm not good at posting even every other day so i don't know what i was thinking. high hopes i guess. i have so much to post it's crazy. i wish i was a professional blogger who did get to blog everyday and not a professional hotel salesperson - i would much rather chronicle the wonderful daily happenings in our life (and the bad, and the beautiful, and the scary, and the insane....) and have it all on record to reminisce over in a few years than knock doors of corporate businesses who are so tired of people like me.

someday when motherhood is my only profession i will add to it the skill of blogging more often. i will get tips from my sister who is amazingly consistent and has turned it into an art form.

sorry for the unfulfilled promise.

at any rate, let me tell you about our maiden voyage. it was really spectacular and happened over labor day weekend. in addition to all those great things with the big fam, my little fam also got out and enjoyed the sunshine and local scenery, with the maiden voyage of this guy:

we bought it like, the day after she was born and couldn't wait to use it... good thing we waited til september to break it in, right before all the good weather disappears.

it worked like a dream. the ol' kelty kid pack was perfect and beth rode it like a champ. she just hung out, sucked on her toys and entertained us with the occasional song. what more do you want from a 6 month old?

we hiked up to "the falls" and kicked back for a bit, eating some lunch and taking in the brilliant weather. it could only have been better had there actually been some falls and water for my poor parched dog. we're also getting beth started early on proper use of a camelbak. this girl knew exactly what to do. she must have known what kind of family she was coming to.

yep, that's my girl.

i took the pack on the way back so that i couldn't be accused of not packing my fair share on the hike. :) beth was quiet most of the way... she zonked out completely.

yes friends, it was a good first run. the weather got warm again and september has been good to us. i believe there is still time for a few more of these. got to get them in before she weighs twice as much next spring...!

just as i suspected

a little bit of time with the fam, a lot of good laughs and bam. weird day blues are gone. that and it's back to 85 degrees again, making that transition into fall just a little bit smoother. we had the best time. between a rockies game where we got to sit on THE mile-high row, the taste of colorado, some good quein' (that's supposed to be short for bar-be-queing), visit to the wildlife refuge, a little bit of golf, some college football, bets won (jus, you still owe me dude), and the familiar sarcastic humor that comes all too naturally with the banner fam, there was no room for anything but laughter and fun. yes, good times had by all. well almost all. one of us was missing... a big bummer, and i missed her.
though she may not be all too disappointed, given her recent scenery.

my mother gave beth some watermelon to try this weekend and she loved it! i am still totally slacking on the solid food thing. we have done rice cereal a couple of times(see below), but the whole thing just makes me nervous because i have no clue what to give her and how much and when and she's not going to like anything at first so when do i determine that she really does hate something and stop forcing it down her throat...??? maybe a little dramatic, i know, but i am realizing how nice and convenient it has been to just be able to feed her anytime, anywhere with you know what. but after seeing how much she enjoyed the watermelon i am motivated to try a little harder and get her into new things (NOT soda, HANK).

anyway, here are some pics to tell the tale of our lovely weekend together.

some wildlife refuge photos...

and beth's reaction at 1 minute:

2 minutes:

and 4 minutes:

clearly she was thoroughly enthused :)

me and my sister chris taking pictures of each other with our phones. we are so cool.

my favorite from the weekend:

oh yeah, and two months and double our budget later, we also got to break this in with a solid family bar-be-que.
....finally!!!
don't have any pics from the party unfortunately, but you can imagine. it was a perfect night, good food, some basketball... all around a great way to break it in.

soooooo happy it's finally done and we can enjoy it. especially the man. he worked on it practically every spare second that he wasn't at work. just a few more finishing touches to the landscaping and our yard is primo baby. and even though the summer is pretty much over, we are still planning parties galore.
well, at least i am. we'll see if they really happen.

good work there babe. it's amazing.

as was our weekend. an additional post on it tomorrow (hopefully...).

well, good game fam. let's please get together again soon. including you.
